Why the different options

Quite simply each of these decorating methods have their benefits depending on what and where you are painting. Also the type of finish you require will be a big consideration. In this blog we would like to explore the Pros & Cons of painting using spray technology, rollers or brushes.

Spraying

PROS: Spraying will achieve the finest finish. So if you are spraying a smooth surface a factory finish can be achieved.

CONS: Spray equipment is expensive and requires a spray booth with extraction. There is also a huge learning curve to mixing the paint to the correct consistency and applying the paint evenly, without drips. Spraying should not be done in confined spaces, so for health and safety reasons we do not recommend spraying in peoples homes.

Rollers

PROS: Rollers are a great way of covering flat areas and with skill, a spray like finish can be achieved. They are inexpensive, but it is definatley worth buying the better quality ones.

CONS: Not good for intricate projects.

Brushes

PROS: Brushes are the most versatile of the tools and particularly good for detailed areas. Depending on your preference, brush marks can be achieved or a smooth finish depending on the users skill and the consistency of paint.

CONS: It’s hard to get a completely smooth finish.
